Ontur, Southern Spain - Site Information

Ontur Airfield is situated 120km inland from Alicante. The local region is mostly farmland dotted with small individual ridges. 50km to the west are the Sierra de Alcarez rising to 1700m, whilst to the north stretches the great Spanish plain. The airfield, like most of this plain is 650m above sea level. In addition to the thermal, ridge and wave conditions there are also magnificent convergences. Amongst the most extensive are the sea breezes which often come are within easyreach of Ontur airfield which is 150km from the sea. Combine the geographic influences with the climate of south eastern Spain to make a perfect year round soaring site for pilots of all levels of experience.
